Duct Tape Fun!

Haven't ya'll been havin' fun with the new Linky tool? I have met so many new blog friends and found awesome blogs that I didn't even know existed....FUN!
My daughter, Amelia has been having some fun too. She is my little "social butterfly"...not at all like her momma! Lately she has been looking for a way to earn some money for her class project, so of course it had to be crafty.....we came up with Duct Tape Rings. These are the cutest rings and all the tweens love em' so she has raised $50 for her class....A proud momma bragging a little! These have been so much fun, I decided to share the project with all of you ladies...if you haven't seen em' before you are in for a treat...
Cute and Colorful Duct Tape
My Sweet Amelia!
All the girls are making them now, so maybe you would like to make a few too...Here is how you do it...
Gather up all your supplies: Duct tape, Exacto knife, cutting board, and scissors...like so...
Love all the pretty
Duct tape designs
All you need!
Use an Exacto knife to cut a strip of duct tape into 1 x 1 squares....be sure and use a cutting board...like so...
Craft Cutting Board from Michaels
Cut Duct Tape....1 x 1 squares
Strip cut into squares
A 1 x 1 square
You should cut about 25 squares...sometimes it take a few less and sometimes a few more...Each one is different. Now that you have all your squares, it is time to make your petals...like so...

Fold down one corner
Fold the opposite corner down
Fold one of your top corners down to form a "V" (your point should face the opposite bottom corner)....then fold the opposite corner down in the same way, so the top is a triangle...Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!  Once you finish making all your petals it is time to make the band for your ring.
Cut a piece of tape about 4 inches long and then cut about 1/3 off lengthwise, so it is not so wide. Fold lengthwise to the width you would like your band, and then fold the other side over....like so...

Approximately 4 inch long strip...
about 1 inch wide
Fold lengthwise to desired band width
Fold other side over first fold....
you have a band
You can make the band in any color...We have made it the same, a coordinating color, and even a few in gold and silver...Whatever you like!
After you make the band you need to size it to fit...put the two ends together and estimate the size you will need (just use your finger, or a ring)...You only need an extra 1/2 inch to fold and tape....like so...

Put ends together and determine
size...then add 1/2 inch to tape
Pinch the ends in half and tape
all the way around
The top that is taped is the center of your ring, so I like to cover it with a little piece of tape...you could even glue a jewel here if you like....Have fun with it!
Now it is time to start added petals...like so...

Center with tape over it...
First petal on...then
fold around base
First petal attached
Second petal on...
Now just continue adding petals, turning the ring as you go to keep it even. You can alternate colors or patterns...just create what you like. Every ring we do looks a little different, but that is what makes em' beautiful!
After adding 20-30 petals you get this...

Love the colors
One of my mom's friends even had us make a few for her "Red Hat" Club members...these ladies are so much fun!

"Red Hat" club ring
Do you love em' or what? ..

Linking up to these fabulous parties...
