Needless to say I have a hard time creating a vignette to share my creations. I didn't even share the floor to ceiling, wall to wall mirror in the back of the dining room....no way to take a pic without being in it, so I wasn't goin' there!
Mom loves mirrors!
Anyway, back to the fruit....I considered painting, silver leafing, decoupaging with sheet music, or just leaving them alone...I decided on decoupage.
My song birds, seen Here were a favorite, but how much music covered stuff does one person need, right? I finally decided on some pretty paper that I found at Michael's. I selected 2 or 3 patterns for each piece of fruit and got busy....like this....

Decoupage Recipe....1/2 and 1/2 glue and water, MIX....That's it!!!

I find that applying the decoupage mix to both sides of the paper is best....I use my fingers....go ahead, it's part of the fun, but if you do this you better have someone else to take pics. I was on my own so I don't have any pics of the process, but here is the final product....

WOW!!! I love how the fruit turned out! What a neat idea!
I wouldn't have known what to do with it, but you made it so cheery!
I'm jealous of your fabric stash! Cute idea!
Very cool ideas... very clever!!!!
Oh my- what a fun and neat idea to decoupage the icky fruit!! I would never have thought to have done this. Thanks so much for your nice comment. I use a Nikon D5100 and am still playing with it. I am a novice on that thing! I'll come back to see more of your blog as soon as I get home. It's lunch time and I'm sneaking some time on the computer. :-) Sue

How clever!
Following you back from Hopeful Threads and so happy to have found you! I'm thinkin' I can learn a lot from you too....I'm scared of trying to "re-do" furniture, but LOVE to see it done!
Your fruits are so cute! My kitchen is an apple theme. I think I need to make some fabric covered apples now. I found you through Romance on a Dime. Thanks for sharing! :)
They turned out cute! Now just do the same treatment to the bowl, maybe in a solid color, and put the fruit in it! It would make a neat whimsical garden accent or patio decoration at the new place!
I *heart* this project! How cute!!! Your fruit looks like it has been covered in Vera Bradley fabric. I am following you right back!

Very creative and pretty. Love the fruit, you'll find the right place for it. Love the fabric on the fruit. I would not have thought to do this. Really cute. Thanks for sharing you creative inspirations at Sunday's Best party!
So funny to tune into a blog for the first time and read,"do you remember the bowl and fruit i dug up in the backyard?" HAHA. I was intrigued! Thanks for inviting me to come visit your blog. I love what you did with the fruit :) Looks awesome! Following you back.

Wanted to stop by and thank you for your visit to my blog and your kind words about my chair... the way you covered the fruit was unique and I need to go back and read the story of how you dug up the fruit from the yard? I love finding old stuff!!
My family has been laughing at me for years for dragging home junk!!
Have a great weekend!
Sandy

Nice job!! They look great and add so much color!
Thanks for linking up to the Take it on Tuesday blog hop! Hope I see you next week!
I like how they came out, but they look like they should be soft. They remind me of a stuffed, patched fruit 'pillow', we made in 4-H when I was a kid. I like this better than painted, I would use them in a vignette, one or two at a time. I like the pear in the dish with the twine. Have a great week, Smiles}}
So cute! I love it. They look so nice too. Thanks for linking it to Monday Madness.
Great project idea! I love the fabrics! Thanks for sharing at my party!
