Headed Home

Hi Ya'll and good morning.....At 7:00 pm it is morning for me (if you didn't know, I work nights...YUK). I was sooo tired driving home this morning that I was trying to come up with a way to stay awake...ie: alive! I enlisted the help of my EVO...I turned on the camera, and every time I stopped, I took a picture. Pretty boring, I know, but when you are sleep deprived, the weirdest things just seem right. I was at my third traffic light when the idea to take pics hit me....why? I was sitting at the light and right in front of me was a Maserati. Who doesn't want to take a pic of a high dollar sports car, and wonder what they are doing, and thinking, as they drive that hunk of cash around....So, I did it, and my journey home began..... (Forgive the pics, but I was in a car with a dirty windshield, and ....did I mention I was in a car?) ...ATTENTION: To all SFPD...I only had the phone in my hand while the car was stopped....NO crime here! And here is my trip home.....
Maserati approaching Van Ness
Okay, I have to add that this car can probably go 180 mph and here it sits....just like me in my mom's Lincoln....What good is a super fast car on a city street? Oh well, not my money! At least they can probably afford the gas prices.....
Thanks a lot Mr. President!
At this point it is about 7:45 am and I am hungry, so I started looking for sustenance....please DO NOT tell Kristi @ Addicted 2 Decorating cause' she is doing so great on her new healthy lifestyle...she may even start a new blog about her and her husbands success (we can only hope). Anyway, back to the trip.....
Next stop, Burger King...
No health food here....
The food is not on my "healthy" list, but the service was great, and I got breakfast with a smile...
We had a language barrier,
but she was smiling!
Between my southern accent and her accent (not sure what accent it was), we were laughing by the time my order was complete...nice to get a smiling face at a drive-thru!
At the corner I saw a window full of geedunks (pronounced with hard G...gEEdunks)...if ya don't know, this means a "what not". Not sure what establishment this is, but I wanted to shop...
Now I have to decide whether to eat, or take pics....the pics won out...
People on the street
Morning Sunshine!
I would love to have stopped at this next place for coffee...do you have drive-thru coffee places where you live? Love the concept of coffee on the go...
Drive-thru coffee shop
On to the freeway where I don't plan any pics....until traffic stalls momentarily...
Poor quality pic of the city
Thirty minutes later I'm almost home and it is a beautiful morning...
What kinda tree is this?....like it
What a sky....thanks God!
Beautiful day!
Turning into our neighborhood...looking forward to some sleep!
No soap in the fountain today...
yes, it happens often
And now I am home, where I get hugs and kisses and sleep...
Mom's front yard...no grass!
Glad that I was inspired by that Maserati cause' I didn't get sleepy at all, and I spent some time taking in the glory of the day!
Now it's your turn...What inspired you today?....tell me all about it...

Blog Tag

Blog Tag....I'm it!
Vicki over at Vicki's Vault has tagged me in a blog tag...now I get to share with you too...so here goes...

RULES:
1.  You must post the rules....duh!
2.  Answer the 11 question that the tagger posted for you, and then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged. (I have to ask...why 11?)
3.  Tag 11 people and link them in your post.
4.  Let them know you have tagged them (otherwise they will never know, right?)
(It is not a rule, but it would be nice if everyone followed these great bloggers...share the love)

So here are the questions posed to me...(answers included)

1. What is your favorite holiday, and why?
My favorite holiday is Christmas because I have such fond memories of time with family, and the joy of celebrating the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
2.  What is your favorite pastime?
Are you kidding?......As a DIY, crafting blogger....Life is my pastime
3.  If grocery stores were closed for a long period of time, how long could you survive on what you have at home?
Well, we all know that anyone could survive on water for 40 days, but I don't wanna try that!  We have a "year" supply in dry goods that would probably last us 3 months if the truth be known.
4.  What is your favorite childhood memory?
My "Grandma Days"! Every Saturday, my mom got her hair done, and I got to stay with my Grandma. She always played with me and told me stories, and let me fix her hair. My daughter, Amelia, is named after her...I miss my Grandma!
5.  If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
 Our family recipe....homemade tacos...YUM!!!
6.  What is your favorite thing to wear?
Comfy jeans, or sweats and a baggy sweatshirt....Just not a fancy girl!
7.  If you could vacation anywhere you wanted, where would you go?
I have always wanted to go on a Mediterranean cruise....a long one!
8.  What is your favorite season?
This is an easy one.....Fall!!!! Love sweaters, the red, orange, and yellow leaves, and the cool crisp air!
9.  What is your favorite movie?
"You have bewitched me body and soul"....whataya think?.....Pride and Prejudice
10.Do you  have children, if so , how many?We are a blended family so here goes.....Brandon, Jennifer, Julie, David, Robbie, Hollie, Ricky and Amelia....And then there are the grandkids....Macalah, Joshua, Kade, Shaelyn, Macy, Emily, Morgan, Madison, Blake. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary......Love family!!!!!
11.  Where do you do the majority of your grocery shopping?
I don't like to grocery shop....my honey does that! I think he goes to Food Max most of the time....?????

And now for the bloggers I tagged....and their 11 questions...

1. On a "free" day where you can do whatever you want (pretend this is possible), what would you do?
2.  Home Depot or Lowe's?....yes, there is a difference.
3.  What silly thing are you afraid of?...I scream at spiders :0
4.  Do you own, or have you made anything "Chevron", if so, what?
5.  Does your husband or significant other, support your blogging...how?
6.  Have you taken the Myers Briggs test? If so, what are you? I'm an INFP (Try it if you haven't... very interesting)
7.  Tell us about one of your quirky habits...come on everyone has one!
8.  If you could choose any career, what would it be? Is it the one you have?
9.  Favorite TV show
1o.  Do you do "Craigslist", if so, what was your favorite find?
11.  Does it bother you that there are 11 questions, instead of 10? (can we say OCD!)

Okay, that's it....enjoy and share the fun!

Poufed Out!

Ever had a complete DIY flop? Usually if I have a huge glitch then I just go in another direction, or redo it...But this time, I did not even know I was about to have a major flop. So here is what happened...I found this great vintage footstool (future pouf), in the FREE pile at a garage sale. As usual I could not just leave it behind, so in the car it went...here is the original...
Dirty, but has potential!
I have seen a few people paint vinyl and leather, so I figured Why Not?
One person somewhere on the blogosphere (wish I could find it), painted a leather chair with chalk paint and it looked great. That was all the encouragement I needed. I cleaned the leather with alcohol and got busy...
Before Cleaning
After Cleaning...looking better
2/3 paint with 1/3 sheetrock mud
Start the painting...
First coat
2nd Coat
I was really liking the look after the 2nd coat of chalk paint...who doesn't love turquoise, right? It was looking a little plain, so I decided to do a colorful pattern on the top. I love the little samples at Home Depot...only $2.49 for any color you want! Not bad if you only need a little paint, and you want a specific color.
Here is what I used...
Yellow, Orange and Green
Next step....paint some pretty circles...like so...

Yellow
Green and Orange
Here it is....I loved it!
The only thing left to do...wax and enjoy....or so I thought!
While preparing to wax I noticed a tiny spot where the paint had come off...just a little tiny spot...OH SAY IT ISN'T SO!
It was so....the paint did not adhere to the leather. Aggghhhh! I couldn't have discovered this BEFORE I painstakingly painted tons of little polka dot circles? Of course not! I rationalized that maybe it was just a small area...or maybe it didn't have time to cure, or maybe.....it was just a flop! So, what did I do?.....
Are you one of those people that love to peel? If you are, then you know it...if you are not then you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Well, I am a PWLTP (person who loves to peel), and so I made the best out of my disaster....I peeled ...with only a few tears....

No fair...sniff
sniff, sniff
I peeled til' I felt a little better and now I am trying to decide what to do with my failed pouf. I did learn that you should always prime, or use a leather paint. I guess I will also have to admit that Annie Sloan chalk paint must have something that my homemade paint doesn't have....I'm just all poufed out!
Sooo Sad!
Have you had a failed project?
Did you fail early on or at the end?
What did you do with it?
Share all your failures...and successes. I would love to hear from you.

Duct Tape Fun!

Haven't ya'll been havin' fun with the new Linky tool? I have met so many new blog friends and found awesome blogs that I didn't even know existed....FUN!
My daughter, Amelia has been having some fun too. She is my little "social butterfly"...not at all like her momma! Lately she has been looking for a way to earn some money for her class project, so of course it had to be crafty.....we came up with Duct Tape Rings. These are the cutest rings and all the tweens love em' so she has raised $50 for her class....A proud momma bragging a little! These have been so much fun, I decided to share the project with all of you ladies...if you haven't seen em' before you are in for a treat...
Cute and Colorful Duct Tape
My Sweet Amelia!
All the girls are making them now, so maybe you would like to make a few too...Here is how you do it...
Gather up all your supplies: Duct tape, Exacto knife, cutting board, and scissors...like so...
Love all the pretty
Duct tape designs
All you need!
Use an Exacto knife to cut a strip of duct tape into 1 x 1 squares....be sure and use a cutting board...like so...
Craft Cutting Board from Michaels
Cut Duct Tape....1 x 1 squares
Strip cut into squares
A 1 x 1 square
You should cut about 25 squares...sometimes it take a few less and sometimes a few more...Each one is different. Now that you have all your squares, it is time to make your petals...like so...

Fold down one corner
Fold the opposite corner down
Fold one of your top corners down to form a "V" (your point should face the opposite bottom corner)....then fold the opposite corner down in the same way, so the top is a triangle...Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!  Once you finish making all your petals it is time to make the band for your ring.
Cut a piece of tape about 4 inches long and then cut about 1/3 off lengthwise, so it is not so wide. Fold lengthwise to the width you would like your band, and then fold the other side over....like so...

Approximately 4 inch long strip...
about 1 inch wide
Fold lengthwise to desired band width
Fold other side over first fold....
you have a band
You can make the band in any color...We have made it the same, a coordinating color, and even a few in gold and silver...Whatever you like!
After you make the band you need to size it to fit...put the two ends together and estimate the size you will need (just use your finger, or a ring)...You only need an extra 1/2 inch to fold and tape....like so...

Put ends together and determine
size...then add 1/2 inch to tape
Pinch the ends in half and tape
all the way around
The top that is taped is the center of your ring, so I like to cover it with a little piece of tape...you could even glue a jewel here if you like....Have fun with it!
Now it is time to start added petals...like so...

Center with tape over it...
First petal on...then
fold around base
First petal attached
Second petal on...
Now just continue adding petals, turning the ring as you go to keep it even. You can alternate colors or patterns...just create what you like. Every ring we do looks a little different, but that is what makes em' beautiful!
After adding 20-30 petals you get this...

Love the colors
One of my mom's friends even had us make a few for her "Red Hat" Club members...these ladies are so much fun!

"Red Hat" club ring
Do you love em' or what? ..

Linking up to these fabulous parties...
